MTV VMA’s 2020

Los MTV Video Music Awards en su edición 2020 se desarrollaron anoche desde distintos puntos de Nueva York; se trata de una de las premiaciones más populares del mundo de la música en inglés, que año con año es esperada por miles de fans en el mundo.

La premiación fue totalmente virtual, con algunas presentaciones previamente grabadas y otras participaciones en vivo, bajo las restricciones y medidas recomendadas para evitar contagios ante la pandemia de COVID-19 que se vive en gran parte del mundo.

Una de las noches musicales más divertidas de la industria, vio desfilar gran cantidad de famosos en la alfombra roja virtual y en la ceremonia “a distancia” en una gala que rompe con la solemnidad de algunos premios para mostrar el lado más creativo y deslumbrante de la industria musical juvenil.

La ceremonia, que en un inicio se llevaría a cabo en el Barclays Center en Brooklyn, debido a la pandemia de coronavirus se realizó en distintas locaciones al aire libre en cinco distritos de Nueva York: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, el Bronx y Staten Island.

La gala arrancó con un pequeño tributo a los fallecidos Chadwick Boseman, Pops Smoke y Naya Rivera, para dar paso a The Weekend y su hit Blinding lights, que inauguró la noche desde lo alto de un edificio en Manhattan, desde donde las luces de la ciudad y fuegos artificiales engalanaron su performance.

Entre los premios novedad de este año se encuentran las categorías “Mejor video hecho en casa” y “Mejor presentación en cuaretena”, como una forma de reconocer lo vivido en los últimos meses. Asimismo, fue presentado un galardón especial: Tricon, entregado a Lady Gaga, para honrar sus facetas de cantante, actriz y activista social.
